Let's assume that it was something like this that Fantine saw in Celie's mind (Fantine can read people's memories involuntarily) which prompted her to ship them. In reality whatever she saw in her favorite teacher's memories, it must be so significant an occurrence between the Wind and Ice teachers she actually felt that they might have a bond that must be noted.

Tien and Celie had a bet of a sort, and then Tien lost, so he had to buy Celie an ice cream. He bought an ice cream for himself along the way.
